An experienced and versatile musician, Selina Siow is a professional violinist, collaborative musician, and music educator. Fueled by passion and an ardent desire to forge interpersonal connections, her ability to engage with her audience has brought her to prestigious stages worldwide, including Benaroya Hall, Meany Hall, Chicago Symphony Hall, the Concert Hall in Alapayevsk, and the Concert Hall of the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic, Ekaterinburg. She performs frequently throughout the United States and Asia and has given concerts with orchestras such as the Seattle Symphony, the Pacifica Chamber Orchestra, and the Chicago Philharmonic. She has performed under the baton of Ludovic Morlot, Richard Pontzious, James Judd, Anthony Spain, and Kirk Trevor and was featured as a soloist with the Hong Kong Charity Chamber Orchestra in 2017. She actively participates in professional projects and events, including Netflix's 2023 Bridgerton: Queen Charlotte promotional tour.
A passionate music educator, Dr. Siow has extensive years of teaching experience with violin and piano. After moving to Seattle in 2021, she started her private studio offering violin and piano lessons to students ages 6 to 40. She is on the New Bach Music School faculty, where she gives music lessons to local elementary schools’ after-school programs. She also serves as the Program Assistant for the Seattle Chamber Music Society, working closely with some of the top musicians in the classical music industry to provide quality concert experiences for the Seattle community.
In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she works closely with the Chicago West Community Music Center as Camp Director and Administrator, where she also served on its faculty as a violin and music theory instructor. She has planned and implemented violin programs for students of all ages and strives to provide a safe, supportive, and welcoming learning environment for all her students.
Dr. Siow received the degree of Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) at the University of Washington, studying under Ms. Rachel Lee Priday, Master in Music (M.M.) and Performance Diploma (P.D.) degrees from the Chicago College of Performing Arts studying under Mrs. Altima Vamos and Dr. MingHuan Xu; and her Bachelor of Music Education degree from the Hong Kong Education University.
